To the Girl Who...

Writer's picture: Emani TrammellEmani Trammell

To the girl who always has a smile on. The girl who spends all day smiling and laughing, only to come home at night and cry and rock herself to sleep. The girl wondering when that smile of hers will feel real again and when that laugh will ring true of joy.

To the girl who feels unseen, invisible in her pain. The one who thinks her struggles seem to be too irrelevant for others to care about—or even for God to notice them. The girl who feels like her prayers are whispered into the void, and wonders if He even hears the cries of her heart. To the girl waiting and longing for the moment God shows up for His daughter.

To the girl struggling to keep her faith: I see you.

I don’t have all the answers or explanations for all the “why’s” you ask, but, what I can assure you is that I see you and you’re not alone in this season. My hope and prayer for you is that you keep holding on. Hold on to the TRUTH that God cannot lie, even when the days feel uncertain and overwhelming. Hold on to what He told you. Hold on to His promise. Hold on to the fact that He sees you, knows your cries, and cares about your pain. It’s okay to feel what you feel…hurt, angry, alone, confused, lost, even abandoned—just don’t stop reaching for Him, even if all you can offer is a pinky’s reach to Him. He's still reaching out for you.

It’s not over yet. Your story isn’t finished. There’s so much joy ahead. Genuine smiles and belly laughs are coming. But, when the weight feels too much to bear, I’ll stand in the gap for you. My prayer is that God will show Himself to you day to day as a reminder that He’s walking with you, that you hold on to hope in the waiting, and that unexplainable peace covers you, knowing----

You are seen. You are heard. You are loved. You aren’t forgotten.

Keep holding on, sister. He will meet you where you are.

It WILL be well,

E
